NATO's fighter-jets patrolling Baltic airspace were scrambled four times last week to intercept Russian military aircraft in international airspace over the Baltic Sea, the Lithuanian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

Two of the scrambles were to intercept reconnaissance aircraft and other two were to intercept transport planes.

All of them flew over the Baltic Sea without using their onboard transponders.

The NATO air-policing mission is conducted from Lithuania and Estonia.
