TABNAK, Sep, 02: The initial phase of the construction process would begin in 3 months, he said.

Over recent years, Iraq’s war on the terrorist ISIS group known as Daesh destroyed more than 150,000 homes in Iraq and the country has to invest over US$90 billion to rebuild the different sectors destroyed by the war, including US$15 billion for the housing section.

However, international donations have brought dozens of billions of dollars for reconstruction programmers in Iraq.

Daesh took over large swathes of the country in recent years. One third of the country was claimed by Daesh by 2014. In 2017, Iraq announced its victory over Daesh, however the terrorist group is still present in certain Iraqi cities.

As a result of the war on Daesh, up to 5.8 million Iraqis were displaced, according to the International Migration Organization. About three million returned home and the others are still housed in refugee camps across the country.
