Tehran-Baghdad trade goes beyond US$ 10 billion, says Iraqi envoy

Iraqi Ambassador to Iran Nasir Abdul Mohsen Abdullah said the trade between the two neighboring countries has surpassed US$10 billion.

TABNAK, Sep, 03: In a meeting with Governor of central Iranian Semnan Province Mohammad-Reza Hashemi, the Iraqi envoy said industry, agriculture and mining could be main fields for mutual cooperation between Iraq and Semnan Province.

Semnan Province, rich in terms of industrial and mining potential is host to 50 percent of Iran’s minerals.

Wire, cable, building material and veterinary medicine are main exports from the Iranian Province to Iraq.

Iran is a key trade partner and ally for Iraq. It has recently decided to export building material to the country to build 150.000 housing units ruined during Daesh attacks in the country.

Currently, Iran exports over 2,200 various types of goods and products to Iraq and more than half of the active Iranian traders are present in the Iraqi market.
