Bahrain FM hopes political talks between Tehran, Manama to be strengthened

The foreign ministers of Iran and Bahrain conferred on plans to promote bilateral relations between the two neighbors through political talks.

TABNAK, Sep, 06: Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani in a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi highlighted the significance of relations between Manama and Tehran, as expressing hope for the enhancement of political dialogue between the two countries.

Araqchi, for his part, reiterated that the expansion of mutual ties between the two neighbors is within the framework of good neighborliness and a top priority in the Iranian administration’s agenda.

In March 2023, some reports were released about talks between Tehran and Manama to repair severe bilateral relations.

Bahraini government had previously severed its diplomatic relations with Iran in January 2016 following Saudi Arabia’s decision to cut political ties with Iran.

In March 2023, Iran and Saudi Arabia resumed bilateral ties after series of talks mediated by China.
