Iran’s senior security official heads to Russia for BRICS meeting

Secretary of Iranian Supreme National Security Council Aliakbar Ahmadian has left for Russia on Tuesday to take part at meeting of senior security officials of BRICS member states.

 TABNAK, Sep, 10: The meeting is scheduled for September 10-12. Ahmadian plans to have meetings with Russian top authorities to discuss key developments in the region.

Ahmadian plans to discuss the most important regional, international developments and bilateral relations in the political, security and economic fields of negotiation and considerations of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding corridors and energy during his meetings with Russian officials.

BRICS is an intergovernmental organization comprising of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates. 

The BRICS mechanism aims to promote peace, security, development, and cooperation. The BRICS is established on the principles of mutual respect, sovereign equality, inclusiveness, consensus, and strengthened collaboration.

The bloc’s member states will also have a meeting with senior security officials from southern countries including Indonesia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Thailand, Belarus, Vietnam, Venezuela, Uzbekistan, Nicaragua, Cuba, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Mauritania and Laos as well.
