Iran breaks monopoly of world maritime powers, says army chief

Iranian Army Chief Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi said the country’s Navy has managed to break the monopoly of several maritime powers of the world.

TABNAK, Nov, 26 : “The Army Navy, with the foresight of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, has shown Iran's capability, independence, and authority beyond its borders and broken the monopoly of several world maritime powers,” he said.

 

He praised the expansion of Iran’s naval fleet's presence in the high seas and called for strengthening this presence in order to protect national interests of the country.

 

General Mousavi further lauded Iran’s self-sufficiency in designing and producing surface and subsurface vessels equipped with various missiles, drones and radars by the elites of this force and Ministry of Defense.

 

The senior Iranian defense official also described Iran’s expansion of maritime diplomacy and interactions with regional countries as valuable achievements for the Navy.

 

He stated that the presence of more than 100 fleets in the fight against terrorism, as well as holding numerous exercises, including combined rescue and security exercises, have increased the strategic depth of the Islamic system in order to protect its national interests.
