President Masoud Pezeshkian says Iran’s principled policy is based on de-escalation and fostering unity in West Asia, as the Islamic Republic believes that any kind of tension and conflict will be detrimental to all, including the country itself.
Pezeshkian made the remark in a phone conversation with Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on Sunday evening. The two discussed mutual ties and regional developments.
The president said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always made efforts to maintain peace and security in the West Asia region where it has prevented war as much as possible.
However, he added, Israel seeks to spread lies to introduce Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities as a source of insecurity in the region. That’s while the regime is the main source of regional tension due to its warmongering policies, added Pezeshkian.
“We consider any type of tension, unrest, and conflict to be detrimental to ourselves, the region, and the world. Our principled policy is based on de-escalation and enhancing unity in the region, but we will definitely and powerfully confront any threat against our country’s security and interests,” the president said.
He also emphasized that Iran never seeks nuclear weapons as they are banned based on a religious decree by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamanei.
Iran has cooperated and will continue to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to help verify the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, President Pezeshkian said.
Norway’s prime minister said on his part that the European country is ready to offer any help aimed at peacefully resolving the ongoing issues in the West Asia region.
He also said that Norway is willing to have close ties with Iran.
