President Pezeshkian says Iranians will definitely bring bright future for their country
The president made the speech on national TV on Thursday (March 20) at noon Tehran time as Nowruz began hours after the first Laylat al-Qadr, also referred to as the Night of Power or the Night of Destiny. Laylat al-Qadr commemorates the night on which God revealed the holy Quran to the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), and is believed to have taken place on one of the final ten nights of the fasting month of Ramadan, with the 19th, 21th, 23th, and 27th nights being the most probable.
At the beginning of his televised speech, President Pezeshkian recited a prayer that Iranians say when the year turns and calls on God Almighty to change their situation into the best.
He extended his congratulations on the arrival of Nowruz to all Iranian people, both inside and outside of the country, as well as all other nations that celebrate the ancient event, wishing them all happiness, friendship and peace.
He said that Nowruz and Laylat al-Qadr are two manifestations of the same truth that calls for change in destiny. Nowruz opens a new season, while during Laylat al-Qadrs, everybody prays and decides that their path will change in light of receiving help from the Quran that is “a book of life, bringing people out of darkness, [leading them] to light,” the president said.
“We stay awake in these nights [Nights of Power] to purify our souls and spirits to change into a new human being and reach our destiny in a new day as fate allows. However, our worth and the worth of our homeland are not [limited to] the ones currently we have. Our worth and destiny are greater than the current situation of us,” said the president.
He commemorated the first Shia imam, Imam Ali (AS) whose martyrdom anniversary falls on March 22, praising him for his efforts to uphold justice during his entire lifetime.
Pezeshkian also commemorated the late Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi who was martyred along with members of his entourage in the early months of the last Iranian year.
He also honored key regional resistance leaders as well as all the Lebanese and Palestinian people, who lost their lives in brutal attacks by the Zionist regime that is supported by the powers claiming to defend human rights.
The last Iranian year ended while people endured all those hardships, President Pezeshkian said, adding that as the time turns, “we will determine our worth to be greater, higher, and more dignified than we have had before.”
He said that his administration is determined and “will spare no effort” to remove “ugliness and injustices” from Iran, through “solidarity and unity” and with the help of “the will and resolve” of the Iranian people.
Pezeshkian pledged that he will definitely find a way to tackle inflation, saying that livelihood, housing, health and education remain the top priorities of his administration for the new Iranian year.
“We are determined to make change,” he said, but emphasized that any change requires distancing from previous methods which the president said would only worsen the situation and aggravate the existing imbalances if they continue to be used.
“If we want this situation to stop, we must take reforms on all imbalances with the help of experts, specialists, academics, elites, economists, cultural and media figures, and with the participation of each and every one of our dear people,” said Pezeshkian, expressing confidence that the Iranian people and officials will be able to create a promising future through relying on domestic capabilities.
“This is us who will be able to build a bright future and a dignified nation for ourselves and our children. It is us who will be able to elevate Iran to the worth and status it deserves through relying on precious capacities and unique capabilities in our dear homeland.”
President Pezeshkian also highlighted the importance of national unity to achieve the goals.
“It is us who will be able, through national unity and integrity, to create a unique and strong power that can withstand the toughest tests and navigate through the storms of events.”
Further in his speech, President Pezeshkian highlighted the importance of investment and economic activities by people and the private sector, which he said is a top priority of his administration. He said that the economic participation of people and the private sector boosts production and employment, leading to an improvement in people’s livelihood.
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has always encouraged and supported a more active economic participation by the people and the private sector, and also emphasized this important issue when naming the new Iranian year, President Pezeshkian said.
“In order to achieve the lofty goals of our country and the vision set by our dear Leader, we need to change our views, foster internal unity and cohesion, and avoid polarization,” Pezeshkian said.
He emphasized that maintaining healthy relations with neighboring countries in all areas is a top priority of his administration as well, followed by ties with all countries across the globe to establish “a world filled with peace, brotherhood, and humanity”, free from terror and massacres by criminals and oppressors.
“On this Nowruz and at this Laylat al-Qadr, God willing, we will begin a good year and open a new page in history of Iran. The pride of Iran and all Iranians is our national ideal,” said President Pezeshkian as he concluded his speech.
