TABNAK, Oct, 02: Iran started missile attack named ‘Operation True Promise II’ on Tuesday night and launched 400 ballistic missiles at Israel. Missiles have been launched from Isfahan, Tabriz, Khoramabad, Karaj, and Arak cities.

The decision to retaliate against Israel was made by Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and after two months of "restraint", the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement.

Israel assassinated Palestinian Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31. In its massive airstrikes on Beirut, Lebanon, on September 27, Israel also assassinated Iranian Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, who acted as Iranian military advisor in Lebanon, and Lebanese Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

"We only used our legitimate right for defense and our move was defensive,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on Wednesday on the sidelines of cabinet meeting.

He also congratulated Iranian armed forces for their ‘very appropriate response’ to Zionist regime which came because of Zionist regime’s ‘terrorist actions’.

He also reiterated that Iran only hit military targets and no civilian target was attacked during the missile attacks on Israel. “Unlike Zionist, regime which is used to killing civilians, we attacked only military targets and it was really successful,” he said.
