TABNA, Jan 01: An assistant to Iran's foreign minister and the director general for the Persian Gulf Affairs in the Iranian Foreign Ministry vehemently denounced the large-scale US-British strikes on various neighborhoods of Sana’a as efforts in support of the Zionist regime’s ongoing crimes in Gaza.
“The continuation of adventurous and aggressive attacks by the US-led coalition on Yemen’s soil are aimed at destabilizing the region and undermining the peace and ceasefire process between the groups and countries involved in the Yemeni crisis,” Mohammad Alibek said on Wednesday.
He also held the US and Britain directly responsible for any dangerous and unpredictable consequences arising from the regional situation.
“The recurrent military aggression by the United States and Britain against Yemeni territory is a clear violation of the international law and the UN Charter, and a blatant encroachment on Yemen's national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.
The official said all conflicts and attacks in the West Asian region are rooted in the Zionist regime's genocidal policy in Gaza, warning about the negative consequences of the regime's warmongering and provocations for regional and international peace and security.
Yemen’s al-Masirah television channel reported a series of US-British aerial attacks on the Yemeni capital on Tuesday afternoon.
Two of the airstrikes hit the Defense Ministry building and other areas in downtown Sana’a, while the rest struck the 1st Armor Division and an ammunition manufacturing complex in the city center.
Ambulances were seen rushing to the scenes, as security forces cordoned off the targeted sites. Residents reported that the powerful airstrikes rocked the entire city, with some houses near the targeted sites being partially damaged.
The strikes against Yemen come amid retaliatory attacks against the Israeli regime over the Gaza war which has killed at least 45,541 Palestinians and wounded 108,338 since October 7, 2023.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation and vowed they will not stop their attacks until Israel’s ground and aerial offensives in Gaza end.
Yemenis have hit targets throughout the occupied territories, in addition to firing at Israeli ships or vessels heading to or departing Israeli-occupied ports, in the southern Red Sea, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea.
