Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the International Organizations Based in Vienna Mohsen Naziri-Asl while criticizing the West's abuse of the International Atomic Energy Agency's platform for political purposes has emphasized that the request for a comprehensive report on Iran's peaceful nuclear program lacks any legal basis and is considered a dangerous heresy.
Speaking at the meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Naziri Asal said: "According to the latest report on the implementation of safeguards (SIR 2023), among the 46 countries that have a safeguards agreement but do not implement the additional protocol, the Islamic Republic of Iran alone includes 75% of all IAEA safeguards inspections."
Pointing out that about a quarter of the total inspections of the agency are dedicated to Iran's nuclear facilities, he said that this is despite the fact that these facilities constitute only three percent of the world's nuclear facilities. "Such level of access for the agency would not have been possible without Iran's continued cooperation."
