
Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, have discussed bilateral and regional issues.
Mirzoyan hosted Iran’s foreign minister for a working dinner on Monday night, hours after Araqchi arrived in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan.
The two discussed the most important bilateral and regional issues.
During his stay in Yerevan, Araqchi is also set to hold talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and other high-ranking officials. The situation in the Caucasus region is on the agenda.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei announced the top diplomat’s trip to Armenia on Sunday night. Baqaei said that the visit, which takes place on an invitation by Armenia’s foreign minister, lies within the framework of Iran’s continuous consultations with its neighbors on bilateral relations and regional developments.
On March 16, President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan, exchanged views on bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of regional peace and stability, particularly among neighboring countries.
Iran and Armenia have maintained cordial relations since the establishment of their diplomatic ties in 1992.
