Iran-US talks in Rome ended positively, another round scheduled for next days

TABNAK, Apr. 19 - Second round of the talks between Iran and the US in Rome ended positively minutes ago as planned at around 18:00 Iran time and the next round of the talks is will be held coming days.

According to the Tabnak International Service, the second round of Iran-US talks began today, Saturday, April 20, at the Omani Embassy in Rome, the capital of Italy.

The talks began around 5 a.m. Eastern Time (12:30 p.m. Iranian time) and will last at least five hours.

The first round of talks, which was held in Oman, was evaluated positively by Iran and the United States.

Mohammad Sarfi, cheif editor of Tehran Tmes says that contrary to the first round of talks in Muscat,  the delegations even may stay in Rome for some more days to continue talks for this round of talks.

US Vice President JD Vance reportedly in Rome

Abolfazl Zohrevand, a member of the Parliament's National Security Commission, says that the US Vice President apparently made her way to the scene of the negotiations at the Omani Embassy in Rome.

The meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani took place before the official start of the second round of Iran-US talks. 

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has voiced his country's readiness to contribute to the peace and stability of the Middle East region earlier.

Publishing a photo of himself and his Omani counterpart, Tajani wrote on X, "I thanked the Foreign Minister @badralbusaidi for Oman's constructive role in mediating between the US and Iran over the Iranian nuclear program."

He added that Italy will host high-level talks in Rome to facilitate a positive solution.

"Italy is ready to give its contribution to peace and stability in the Middle East," he declared.

The second round of talks between Tehran and Washington is set to be held indirectly, the same format as the first round of talks.

Iran after a balanced agreement

Ali Shamkhani, political advisor to the Supreme Leader, wrote on social media: "Iranian negotiators traveled to Rome with full authority to pursue a comprehensive agreement based on nine principles: seriousness, guarantees, balance, lifting sanctions, not the Libya/UAE model, avoiding threats, speed, containing intruders (like Israel), and facilitating investment. Iran has come for a balanced agreement, not surrender."
