TABNAK, Nov, 23 : “Tehran and Riyadh are after making durable peace and tranquility in a growing and stable region. This requires strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation continuously through overcoming current threats,” Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi emphasized.
Actions of Iran and Saudi Arabia are a successful model of bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the framework of developing regional and international peace and security, he said.
Representatives from the Iran, Saudi Arabia and China convened for their second trilateral meeting in Riyadh on November 19 since Iran and Saudi Arabia restored diplomatic ties under China’s mediation in March of 2023.
The participants included Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li, and Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Elkhereiji.
The trio strongly denounced Israel's attack against Iran and reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic.
The Iranian and Saudi delegations reaffirmed their dedication to fully implementing the Beijing Agreement, emphasizing their continuous efforts to strengthen neighborly relations based on the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter and the Statute of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Furthermore, both Saudi Arabia and Iran acknowledged and appreciated China's constructive and ongoing involvement in overseeing the execution of the two West Asian countries’ rapprochement.
Additionally, the joint statement collectively called for the continuous provision of humanitarian aid to Palestine and Lebanon, cautioning that the ongoing cycle of violence and tension represents a significant threat to both regional and global security, as well as maritime safety.
The three nations voiced their backing for a comprehensive political resolution in Yemen, emphasizing adherence to internationally recognized principles and the leadership of the United Nations.
On Monday, Takht-Ravanchi led a delegation to the Saudi capital, where he engaged in separate bilateral discussions with Waleed Elkhereiji.
Their talks focused on enhancing and broadening bilateral relations across multiple sectors, while also reviewing and exchanging perspectives on the latest regional and international developments.
