Following recent developmets, TABNAk reached out to Tariq Rauf, former head of the Transparency Department of the International Atomic Energy Agency. He shared his viewpoints with TABNAK as follow:

Iran is proposing to return to the Islamabad MOU, IAEA return can only be after all sanctions removed and US forces depart the region, Iran will retaliate if the US resumes attacks on Iran, if Iran cannot export oil, cannot fly its airlines, its energy infrastructure is bombed then no other country in the [Persian] Gulf will be able to export oil, fly airplanes, preserve energy infrastructure. Tehran is very frustrated with the US, it does not know who speaks for the US with authority, there are three competing factions: Rubio and the Deep State and neo-cons; Vance for America First; Trump cannot decide, Israel influence dominates. Oman is out as mediator, because it is copperating with US on moving oil through its channel; Qatar is trsuted as mediator along with Pakistan, but these mediators cannot pull influence with Washington. Netanyahu made secret visit to Abu Dhabi, attended by Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain and offered to provide security to counter Makkah Accord. The Houthis are fighting their own defensive fight and not directed by Iran. Israel is destroying Lebanon. MOU Art 1 called for regional peace and ceasefire not just between US and Iran. Situation remains confused. Iran is determined to degfend itself. In June 2025, it took 18 hours to respond; in February 2026 Iran responded within 1 hour, so US should take note. Reports suggest CENTCOM is preparing heavy three day bombing of Iran, including use of 15,000 KG "Mother of All Bombs" with support of Israel. Trump is frustrated that Iran refuses to surrender and now US caught in a trap of its own making. Iran ready for heavy blows, will not surrender, at a reception here, Iran Ambassador recited poetry by Hafez that talked about life with dignity, otherwise life not worth living , a message Trump needs to understand from a 5000 year old civilization that has survived many challenges.
