Iran envoy calls for expansion of cooperation with Russia in sustainable development

Iran’s ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali has emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration between the two countries, particularly in the area of sustainable development.

Jalali met with Presidential Commissioner for Entrepreneurs’ Rights of Russia Boris Yuryevich Titov in Moscow on Friday.

The ambassador said that independent countries can work together to counter the imposition of values by Western states, highlighting the need to preserve national values and traditions, particularly when articulating international objectives of sustainable development.

In response, Titov welcomed cooperation with Iran across various fields of sustainable development, saying that addressing challenges in that sector requires collective efforts from countries. He expressed Russia’s readiness to share its successful experiences, in particular in the areas of economy and trade.

Also on Friday, the Iranian envoy participated in an Iftar ceremony hosted by Chairman of the Russian Council of Muftis Ravil Gaynutdin. During the ceremony, Jalali highlighted the significance of strengthening ties between the Islamic societies of Iran and Russia.

Gaynutdin said that maintaining traditional values and fostering morals will enhance peace among religious followers and ethnic groups. These are among the core religious diplomacy, which are echoed by religious leaders worldwide, he added.
