Saudi Arabia gears up for an even more aggressive policy against Yemen

Tabnak – Although the Saudi regime is trying to depict a positive, reformist picture of itself at home, its increasingly aggressive policies abroad have been actually on the rise. Recent developments indicate a possible Saudi plot to intensify its meddling in Yemen.

Leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement Abdul Malik Badreddin al-Houthi has warned that Saudi Arabia and allies are seeking to escalate their deadly campaign against Yemen to compensate for the losses they have suffered in other regional conflicts.

Houthi said in a televised speech on Saturday that Saudi Arabia was planning to expand the scope of its military aggression against Yemen. Abdul Malik urged the Yemeni people to be prepared for an all-out aggression by Saudi Arabia and allies.

The recent facts on the ground confirm al-Houthi’s remarks of a Saudi plot. For example, it was recently revealed that the British Army is secretly training Saudi Arabian soldiers to fight in Yemen.

The training, codenamed Operation Crossways, was disclosed after the UK Army mistakenly released photos and a mission summary on 2 Scots’ Facebook page earlier this month, The Mail reported on Sunday.

As part of the training, about 50 British military personnel from 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland (2 Scots) have been teaching battlefield skills to officers from the Royal Saudi Land Forces Infantry Institute.

The skills are known as the “Irregular Warfare” which is a collective name for specific tactics used by conventional armies to fight terrorists. In one of the images released, a British instructor can be seen standing in front of a map showing Yemen and the surrounding area as he explains a possible attacking strategy.

However, despite all of these efforts, a close analysis of the battlefield in Yemen casts serious doubt on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s perception of triumph so far in the Saudi-led war on its impoverished neighbor.

In fact, Yemen’s strategic locations still remain in the hands of the Houthi fighters. The Houthis control the capital city of Sana’a and all the Yemeni western shores on the Red Sea in the provinces of Hajjah and Hudaydah and Ta’izz.

They also run the Azal region, comprising the provinces of Sana’a, Sa’ada, Amran, and Dhamar, as well as the Tihamah region, which includes the provinces of Hudaydah, Hajjah, Mahwit, and Raymah.

It should be noted that the Saudi war of aggression on Yemen has been accompanied by a land, naval, and aerial blockade of the country. The war has so far killed over 12,000 people. Over 17 million Yemenis are also in need of food as a result of the war and blockade, which have also caused a cholera epidemic. The disease has so far killed 2,200 people.
