پیجرهای همراه اعضای حزب الله ساعت 15:30 امروز به وقت محلی در لبنان و سوریه، یک پیغام دریافت کرد و چند ثانیه بعد منفجر شد که تا اینجا به شهادت یازده تن و زخمی شدن حدود 4000 تن منجر شده است. ادعاهای اولیه رسانه‌های غربی، هک پیجرها و انفجار باتری پیجر بود اما تیم راستی آزمایی تابناک با توجه به شدت و دفعتی بودنِ انفجار و عدم آتش سوزی، این سناریو را بعید دانست و بر دستکاری این پیجرها و نصب مواد منفجر به جای یکی از قطعات این دستگاه تمرکز کرد. ادوارد اسنودن نیز بر روی سناریوی مورد تمرکز تیم راستی آزمایی «تابناک» تاکید کرد و در توییتی نوشت: «با توجه به اطلاعات بدست امده از بیپرها (پیجرها) در لبنان، در حال حاضر به نظر می رسد مواد منفجره در آن ها کار گذاشته شده باشد نه حمله سایبری؛ چرا؟ به علت وجود سازگاری و هدفمندی بسیار زیاد و صدمات بسیار جدی. اگر انفجار حاصل گرمای بیش از اندازه باتری ها بود، انفجارهای بسیار کوچک‌تر و با خطای بیشتری مورد انتظار بود.» حالا منابع اسرائیلی گزارش اسکای نیوز را این گونه پوشش داده‌اند: «המוסד הצליח לגשת למכשירי התקשורת של חיזבאללה לפני שהעביר אותם למפלגה. המוסד הניח כמות של PETN נפיץ מאוד על סוללת המכשירים ופוצץ אותה על ידי העלאת טמפרטורת הסוללה מספיק כדי לפוצץ אותה. החומר PETN הוא אחד מחומרי הנפץ החזקים ביותר הידועים לאדם. מהירות הפיצוץ של PETN בדחיסות 1.7 גרם לסמ"ק היא כ-8,400 מטר לשנייה. / موساد توانست به دستگاه‌های ارتباطی حزب الله قبل از تحویل آنها به حزب دسترسی پیدا کند. آژانس مقداری PETN بسیار انفجاری را روی باتری دستگاه قرار داد و با افزایش دمای باتری به اندازه کافی برای انفجار آن، آن را منفجر کرد. ماده PETN یکی از قوی ترین مواد منفجره شناخته شده برای بشر است. سرعت انفجار PETN در چگالی 1.7 گرم بر سانتیمتر مکعب حدود 8400 متر بر ثانیه است.» پینتریت یاPentaerythritol tetranitrate که به اختصار PETN خوانده می‌شود، جزو مواد منفجره به شدت پایدار است که معمولاً برای منفجر کردنش، مواد منفجره دیگری همچون RDX به عنوان چاشنی استفاده می‌شود. ویدیویی از تست انفجار 15 گرم از این ماده را در تابناک می‌بینید که سنگ را تکه تکه می‌کند و با قدرت انفجارهای امروز برابری می‌کند. منابع غربی البته میزان مواد منفجره مورد استفاده را 28 تا 56 گرم اعلام کرده‌اند که قدرت تخریبی دو تا سه برابر تصاویری که می‌بینید می‌تواند داشته باشد.
