Tabnak – In response to the latest wave of hostile moves by the Kurdish terrorist groups based in Iraq, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard targeted their main headquarters in a missile strike. A top Iranian commander warns that Iran will not stay silent to any further provocation by the hostile forces in its neighborhood.

In this vein, the chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces hailed a recent missile attack by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) against terrorists in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and said although Tehran is patient, it will not keep silent in the face of conspiracies.

Enemies have hatched dozens of plots against Iran, one of which has turned one of the neighboring countries into a base for creating insecurity in the Islamic Republic, Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said in a speech in Tehran on Tuesday.

“Today the whole world saw how Iran treated with these centers of corruption,” he added, referring to the IRGC missile attack on terrorists in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.

The recent missile attack was “a small part of the story”, the commander said, adding that it demonstrated the country’s power of prudence as well as intelligence and mission command capabilities. “Enemies should be aware that if such plots continue, Iran’s Armed Forces will not keep silent,” Major General Baqeri said.

He went on to say that Iran has always been patient and sent warnings and messages, adding that however, if these plots continue, the country would have no choice but to act harshly.

“According to the United Nations Charter, we regard defending ourselves as our legitimate right and do not allow insecurity to enter our homes, our community and our country...,” the top general noted.

The IRGC issued a statement on Monday, confirming that it had fired seven short-range surface-to-surface missiles at a gathering of terrorist commanders in Kurdistan on Saturday, dealing a heavy blow to them.

The terrorists, the statement read, had been seeking to create insecurity and carry out acts of sabotage in the Iranian provinces of West Azarbaijan, Kordestan and Kermanshah.

Separately on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said that Iran will not follow a policy of appeasement when it comes to its security issues and the violation of its sovereignty by terrorist elements.

The missile strike has not been and will not be “Iran’s optimal choice. But terrorist activities - especially those that resulted in the martyrdom of Iranian border guards and soldiers - left the Iranian armed forces with no choice but to take a retaliatory and deterrent measure based on the credible information it had received.”

He also expressed hope that the joint border with Iraq would be among the most secure and stable frontiers in the region.
