Tabnak – While a number of conservative Arab states of the Middle East has been recently trying to normalize relations with the Israeli regime, Iran is determined in its policy of supporting the Palestinian cause and supporting the Axis of Resistance. This position was recently reiterated once again during the visit of a high-ranking Palestinian delegation to Iran.

In this vein, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif once again reiterated the Islamic Republic's principled policy to support Palestine, urging all countries in the Muslim world to boost their unity to defend the Palestinian cause.

"We hope that some Muslim countries that have pinned their hopes on the support of the Zionists and the US will return to the Muslim world and realize that the Zionists are not a trustworthy friend or partner for anybody," Zarif said in a meeting with a Palestinian parliamentary delegation led by senior Palestinian lawmaker, Mahmoud al-Zahar, in Tehran on Sunday.

The Iranian foreign minister added that efforts to counter the Palestinian resistance are unfortunately being made from inside the Muslim world, saying that all countries and Islamic movements are also under such pressure.

Zahar had another meeting on Sunday with Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani, in which the Iranian official decried Tel Aviv’s crimes against humanity and said the “extensive” corruption of the Israeli leaders will lead to the regime’s destruction.

Shamkhani also highlighted the importance of the Palestinian issue and urged constant efforts to counter the Israeli regime’s policies. “The most important priority of the Islamic world is the support for the cause of Palestine and the freedom of al-Quds (Jerusalem),” he said.

“Any move that leads to a deviation in the course of the fight against the Zionist regime as the main threat to the Islamic world is considered to be a betrayal of Muslims in the world,” the Iranian official added.

“What will destroy the Zionist regime will be the internal and extensive corruption of its leaders, the awakening of the nations and the vigilance against the conspiracies and oppression that this child-killer regime has committed against humanity,” Shamkhani noted.

Zahar, for his part, expressed his gratitude for the support of the Iranian nation and leadership for Palestine’s resistance against Israel.

Back in May, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said resistance is the sole way to save the oppressed Palestinian nation.

In response to an earlier letter from Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, Ayatollah Khamenei reaffirmed Iran’s unwavering support for Palestine and Palestinian fighters, noting that strengthening the resistance front in the Muslim world and intensifying the fight against the occupying regime of Israel and its supporters were the solution to the Palestinian issue.
