Revolutionary Guard chief Mohammad Ali Jafari said: "If the news is correct about the stupidity of the American Government in considering the Revolutionary Guards a terrorist group, then the Revolutionary Guards will consider the American army to be like Islamic State all around the world particularly in the Middle East.”
The threat to US troops in the region comes after a report in the Financial Times cited a source "briefed on the matter” of the IRFC.
The US was condemned for taking "the wrong route” by planning tough measures against Iran.
IRGC chief Jafari claimed that the move would "eliminate the chance” of any dialogue.
He warned: "As we have announced in the past if America’s new law for sanctions is passed, this country will have to move their regional bases outside the 2,000 km range of Iran’s missiles.”
On Thursday, Donald Trump said Iran has not "lived up to the spirit" of the nuclear deal amid reports that he will "decertify" the agreement next week.
An administration official said that to end the Iran nuclear deal would lead to renewed US sanctions against Tehran.
Mr Trump said: "The Iranian regime supports terrorism and exports violence and chaos across the Middle East.
"That is why we must put an end to Iran’s continued aggression and nuclear ambitions.”
When asked if he would decertify the deal, he responded: "You will be hearing about Iran very shortly.”
