TABNAK, Sep, 11: BRICS with its considerably good features in terms of population, economy and power could be a pioneer in forming a new security structure in the international scene to help the world’s security in future, Ahmadian said in BRICS senior security officials meeting in Kazan, Russia.
He further called for establishing a specific security structure for the bloc under the name of ‘BRICS Security Commission’.
Ahmadian continued that the commission could define cooperation mechanism among members in fields such as international peace and security to confront common threats including drugs, terrorism, extremism, abuse of rising technologies including artificial intelligence, quantum, satellites, electromagnetic, naval insecurity, man smuggling and cyber threats.
The BRICS organization conducts annual summits to convene the leaders of its member countries. These gatherings serve as a forum for addressing significant global economic and political challenges.
Moreover, they offer an opportunity for BRICS nations to enhance bilateral collaborations in areas such as finance, energy, agriculture, and technology.
As of January 1, 2024, Russia has taken on the presidency of BRICS and will maintain this role throughout the year. Iran officially joined the BRICS international group at the start of 2024.
