Tabnak – As the United States and Israel continue to threaten Iran’s security regionally and internationally, the Islamic Republic warns that it would react to any move against its interests. Tehran also stressed that the era of American dominance over regional developments in the Middle East is over.

In this vein, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami referred to the continued hostilities of the US and Israel toward the Iranian nation and said Iran will not remain silent on their threats against the Islamic Republic.

Addressing a gathering on “defense and security in West Asia” in Tehran on Monday, Brigadier General Hatami pointed to the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal and said the move proved that the Americans use any means to undermine the independence of countries.

He further deplored US-Israeli threats against Iran and said it does not make sense to keep silent on the threats posed by the Tel Aviv regime and their supporters and those who attack Iran’s cyber infrastructure. “Our answer to them is that today is not the right time to test our will” the defense minister warned.

Hatami also said that the era of American order and Western hegemony has reached its end and time has come to usher in the post-West age in West Asia.

"The Islamic Revolution (in Iran) and the resistance in Syria, Iraq and Yemen show the reality that the West is not the center of regional developments anymore, and the compulsory US exit from Syria indicates the failure of their (the US) strategies in the region," Hatami said.

Elsewhere in his address, Hatami said the West's greed played a leading role in triggering the ongoing developments in regional countries. Unrest and war in West Asia have emanated from the failed ideology of Western countries, which created unrest and chaos in the region for their own interests, he added.

"West Asia is facing a sensitive era and peace and stability are being restored to this region due to the resistance of [regional] nations," the Iranian defense chief pointed out.

The remarks came as tensions between Iran and the US have escalated since US President Donald Trump walked away from the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers in May and re-imposed sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

Trump on August 6 signed an executive order re-imposing many sanctions on Iran, three months after pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). He said the US policy is to levy “maximum economic pressure” on the country.
