Iran makes home-made medicine for diabetic foot ulcer using EGF

Iranian researchers managed to produce a drug for treating diabetic foot ulcer and burns developed using Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) for the first time in the country.

TABNAK, Nov, 09 : Producing the medicine locally causes considerable save in foreign exchange per unit. 

“We have succeeded in producing EGF medicine for the first time in the country. This drug is used in curing diabetic foot ulcer as well as 3rd and 4th degree burns,” said Fahimeh Mohammad Hosseini, the CEO of a knowledge-based company which made the medicine.

Epidermis is a factor that the body needs to repair all wounds. This growth factor is naturally produced in the body. It cases of any wounds, the epidermis release decreases due to changes in the PH of the wounded area and that is why the external form of the growth factor is needed when injuries occur.

The foreign model of this product was basically imported into the country with the main manufacturers has been Cuba, but it has similar samples from India and other countries.

The one made in Iran is similar in terms of quality.
