Iran launches first fruit processing factory using plasma tech

Iran inaugurated a dried fruit processing factory using plasma technology in the city of Rafsanjan, southeastern Iran on Saturday.

TABNAK, Nov, 16 : This is the first dried fruit decontamination and processing plant in Iran operating by plasma technology.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mohammad Eslami, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri.

The dried fruit processing factory in Rafsanjan City has the capacity to receive 3 tons of product per hour.

In the first phase of operation of this factory, 6 thousand tons of dried fruits such as pistachios, almonds, peanuts , as well as products such as corn, cereals, oil seeds and legumes.

The products are decontaminated and processed. Sorting shed, clean room for the operation of decontamination systems, packaging shed, warehouse, boiler halls, facilities, diesel generator and administrative department have been designed in this factory.

The products are first received and stored. They are then sorted, steam washed, disinfected with combined plasma-steam technology. Finally the processed products are packed in a clean room.

The main purpose of establishing and operating this factory is decontamination of dried fruits to ensure food safety and improve the quality of agricultural products.
