Parliament speaker in Beirut, says Iran ready to send aid, supplies to Lebanon via air corridor

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said Iran is ready to to dispatch humanitarian aid and supplies to the war-torn Lebanon.

TABNAK, Oct, 12: He made the remarks in a press conference and after a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Beirut on Saturday.

Qalibaf further noted that the Iranian government and nation are ready to help the displaced and war-stricken people in Lebanon by widespread dispatch of supplies through an air corridor.

Mikati, for his part, said, “At this phase, Lebanese government’s priority is to make efforts for ceasefire.”

“We stress Lebanon’s commitment to 1701 UNSC Resolution and boosting army presence in southern Lebanon.”

He also called for the UN and other countries to press Israel to abide by the resolution completely.

Qalibaf, who arrived in the Lebanese capital earlier in the day, has also had a meeting with the country’s parliament speaker Nabih Berri.

He said that he has conveyed the message of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to the people of Lebanon.

Qalibaf is scheduled to leave Beirut for Geneva to attend an Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting where he said he will convey the message of oppression of the Lebanese people.

Upon his arrival in Dahieh districts, southern Beirut, he had said that Iran would help Lebanon in rebuilding the war-torn area.
