TABNAK, Sep, 07: Jalali is going to visit Kazan in October for BRICS summit scheduled for October 22-24.
Iran has officially joined BRICS in January. Putin and Pezeshkian are probably going to sign Iran-Russia comprehensive cooperation agreement during the meeting, he noted.
Jalali also called the meeting ‘important’ for bilateral ties between Tehran and Moscow.
This treaty is expected to strengthen the strategic ties between Russia and Iran, opening new avenues for cooperation across various sectors and enhancing their geopolitical partnership.
Iran and Russia have been working on this agreement for two years, and the latest draft of the texts are being exchanged.
Work on a new major agreement between Moscow and Tehran was announced in September 2022 during a meeting between Putin and late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
In January, Russia's Foreign Ministry had said a new interstate treaty reflecting the "unprecedented upswing" in Russia-Iran ties was in the final stages of being agreed, and it would be signed soon.
Iran and Russia have signed a 10-year cooperation deal that was lengthened to 20 years through two five-year extensions. The major deal is expected to elevate relations between the two allies to a new level.
The two sides have sought to develop bilateral strategic cooperation, which may determine their relations for the next 20 years.
